David Ortiz just turned in one of the greatest final seasons we’ve ever seen, and he’s about to be recognized for his efforts.
Ortiz might want to make sure he’s got some room in what must be an enormous trophy case, after hitting .315 with 48 doubles, 38 home runs, 127 RBIs and a 1.021 OPS in his swan song.
There’s (justified) chatter that Ortiz could win the MVP award for the first time in his career, which would be the cherry on top of what figures to be an incredible awards season for the legendary slugger.
Here are the awards Ortiz has won so far for his play in 2016.
Hank Aaron Award —Â MLB recognized Ortiz with the Hank Aaron Award, presented to the top offensive performer in each league. Chicago Cubs slugger Kris Bryant won the National League award.
Silver Slugger Award —Â Ortiz was named the American League’s best designated hitter, the seventh time in his career he’s won the award.
