Dion Lewis Reportedly Expected Back At Patriots Practice This Week

Dion Lewis is expected to make his return to the New England Patriots’ practice field this week, according to a report from NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

The Patriots will hold their first practice of the week Wednesday afternoon, with additional sessions scheduled for Thursday and Friday. Once Lewis begins practicing, the team will have 21 days to add him to the active roster.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick would not confirm Rapoport’s report during his Wednesday morning news conference, saying, “If (Lewis does practice), we’ll let you know.”

Lewis has not appeared in a game since tearing his ACL in Week 8 of last season. The running back was spotted on the practice field once during organized activities in June, then underwent a second knee surgery, forcing him to miss training camp and begin the season on the physically unable to perform list.

Lewis amassed 622 all-purpose yards (234 rushing, 388 receiving) and four touchdowns in seven games last season.

The Patriots visit the Buffalo Bills this Sunday in their final game before their bye week.
