NBA Rumors: J.R. Smith Re-Signs With Cavaliers For Four-Year, $57M Contract

J.R. Smith isn’t going anywhere.

The Cleveland Cavaliers sharpshooting guard — and LeBron James favorite — is returning to the defending NBA champions on a four-year, $57 million contract, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein.

Smith reportedly had been asking for approximately $15 million per season, so this contract is roughly what he was looking for. It is a discount, however, considering players like Evan Turner (four years, $70 million) and former Cavs big man Timofey Mozgov (four years, $64 million) — arguably on par with or not as good as Smith — received even more money during the league’s record-setting free agency period last summer.
