Rob Gronkowski’s Apparent Punctured Lung Reportedly Just A ‘Chest Injury’
UPDATE (11:15 p.m. ET): Rob Gronkowski’s injury might not be as serious as NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport initially reported, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
ORIGINAL STORY: Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski didn’t walk away from a hit by Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas unscathed in New England’s 31-24 Week 10 loss.
Gronkowski suffered what is believed to be a punctured lung, sources told NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport on Monday. Gronkowski could miss just one game with the injury. The Patriots play the San Francisco 49ers in Week 11 and the New York Jets in Week 12. Both games are on the road.
Gronkowski re-entered the game after the hit and believed he just got the wind knocked out of him. He said after the game that it was one of the hardest hits he’s ever taken.
The tight end caught three passes on six targets for 56 yards in the loss to the Seahawks.
