Tom Brady Implies He Didn’t Give Donald Trump Permission To Reveal His Vote

FOXBORO, Mass. — Tom Brady might not have given president-elect Donald Trump permission to reveal his political preferences in a New Hampshire rally Monday night.

Trump said Brady gave him the go-ahead to announce the New England Patriots quarterback called him up and told him he voted for the Republican candidate. Brady’s agent released a statement Tuesday saying the QB was voting but preferred not to reveal his political preferences.

Brady was asked Wednesday during a news conference why he gave Trump consent to do so. The QB paused for over five seconds before answering.

“Why did I give him permission?” Brady said. “So, you’re assuming I gave people permission?”

In a follow-up question, Brady was asked if he gave Trump permission.

“I’m just going to talk about football this week,” Brady said.

Brady was asked once more if he gave Trump permission to reveal his political leanings.

“I have a lot of relationships with a lot of people across — and I don’t think a lot of people are entitled to what my conversations are with friends of mine or people I may speak with. Yeah.”

Brady did mention he’s often happy for all winners, regardless of political affiliation.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick also addressed Trump on Wednesday, saying he wrote the president-elect a letter but it wasn’t politically motivated.
