Tony Romo Reportedly Could Leave Cowboys, Join Jets Or Broncos In 2017

Tony Romo reportedly is fine with being Dak Prescott’s backup for now. But that doesn’t mean the Dallas Cowboys quarterback and four-time Pro Bowler simply has accepted his fate as a second-string QB.

With the Cowboys putting their faith in the rookie Prescott, Romo very likely could join a different team in 2017. Plenty of clubs could use a quarterback of Romo’s caliber, and there’s no use in Dallas continuing to pay Romo’s six-year, $108 million contract if he’s riding the pine behind Prescott.

ESPN took that prediction one step further Sunday morning, listing the three most likely landing spots for Romo in 2017, according to Adam Schefter: the Chicago Bears, New York Jets and Denver Broncos.

All three options are intriguing, but Denver likely would be the most enticing destination for Romo, given its recent success compared to the woeful Bears and the dumpster fire that is the Jets. The Broncos did just draft a QB in Paxton Lynch and general manager John Elway is a big supporter of Trevor Siemian, but adding someone like Romo could make them a legitimate title contender.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

These three teams certainly won’t be the only ones in contention for Romo’s services if the Cowboys decide to trade him. Romo’s 36 years old and has yet to play a game this season but he still would be one of the most coveted QBs in the league.

Either way, it could be an interesting offseason for Dallas and No. 9.
