John Elway Waited Over A Year To Troll Trevor Siemian Hater On Twitter

The Denver Broncos’ win Sunday was 511 days in the making for John Elway.

That might seem like a peculiar statement; the Broncos’ 29-17 road victory over the Cincinnati Bengals was impressive, sure, but it’s only Week 3. Yet Sunday’s win also saw a breakout performance by quarterback Trevor Siemian, who threw for 312 yards and four touchdowns with zero interceptions.

Elway and the Broncos took some heat for drafting Siemian with their seventh-round pick in 2015, back when both Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler were on the roster. It appears Elway hasn’t forgotten that criticism, either: Just moments after Siemian’s impressive day, Denver’s general manager took to Twitter to drop an amazing troll job.

There’s only one possible scenario here: Elway saved this poor guy’s tweet from May 2015 and kept it in his back pocket for the next year and a half, waiting for a game like Sunday’s to call him out for doubting Siemian. (Elway since has deleted the tweet.)

Of course, one game does not a superstar make, and the 24-year-old Northwestern product still has a lot to prove. But the Broncos are 3-0, and as it stands now, Denver’s decision to let Osweiler walk and put its faith in Siemian over Mark Sanchez and rookie Paxton Lynch seems pretty smart.

And if Siemian ends up not panning out, we have Elway’s tweet saved to give him a taste of his own medicine.
