Did This Kid’s Awesome Letter Convince Astros To Keep George Springer?

The Boston Red Sox’s acquisition of Chris Sale proved that anything can happen in Major League Baseball’s offseason.

But the Houston Astros still have one of their best young players, and they have a little kid to thank.

OK, that might be a stretch. Still, there’s no doubting the awesomeness of this letter a young Astros fan wrote to Jeff Luhnow, pleading with the general manager to keep outfielder George Springer. Luhnow liked the letter so much that he tweeted it to the masses.

According to Will, Houston shouldn’t trade Springer because 1. He’s Will’s favorite player; 2. Will gets the same haircut as him; and 3. Will thinks he’s a team player.

Of course, anything can happen between now and Opening Day. But how can Luhnow possibly trade his 27-year-old outfielder after that convincing argument?

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

Springer hit a career-high 29 home runs last year while playing an excellent right field, so he’s making a pretty good case for himself on his own. And if Luhnow does decide to move the Connecticut native, well, he’ll owe Will an explanation.
