Heisman Trophy 2016: Louisville Quarterback Lamar Jackson Wins Award

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson was named the 2016 Heisman Trophy winner Saturday night.

Jackson beat out Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield and wide receiver Dede Westbrook, Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson and Michigan linebacker Jabrill Peppers.

Jackson, a sophomore, had a 2016 season to remember. He set the Atlantic Coast Conference record with his 51 total touchdowns (30 throwing, 21 rushing), and he was named the ACC Player of the Year and received the Maxwell Award, which is awarded to the player of the year in college football. He rushed for 1,538 yards and threw for 3,390.
