Dexter Fowler reportedly will remain in the National League Central, but he will not stay with the Chicago Cubs.
Fowler agreed to a contract with the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday, according to MLB insider Jon Heyman, citing sources. The center fielder’s physical will occur Friday, KSDK-TV’s Frank Cusumano confirmed with the Cardinals.
No specific numbers have been reported, but Heyman says there’s word it could be for five years and around $16 million per year.
The 30-year-old hit .276 with 13 home runs and 48 RBI in 2016 for the World Series champion Cubs, and he made his first All-Star Game.
