Report: Bills ‘Preparing To Move On’ From Coach Rex Ryan, And He Knows It

Well this is awkward.

The Buffalo Bills are ready for a new coach after concluding the Rex Ryan experiment hasn’t gone as well as planned. Ryan “probably” is coaching his final games for the Bills in Weeks 15-17, and the Bills are “preparing to move on” from him at season’s end, according to a Sunday report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who last week reported that Ryan’s imminent firing was on the horizon.

Now for the awkward part: Ryan reportedly knows about the looming axe over his head, and that the fact it hasn’t officially been dropped yet is just a formality, per Schefter. He’s expected to be gone shortly after the regular season ends, if not sooner.

Despite the poor performance of Ryan and previous Bills coach Doug Marrone, Bills general manager Doug Whaley is expected to retain his job, per Schefter, and he’ll take a third shot at finding the right coach.

Ryan is in the second season of a five-year contract.
