ESPN’s Jeff Goodman Got In Heated Argument With LaVar Ball’s Associates In Lithuania

LaVar Ball and his family have been in the news ever since he claimed his son Lonzo Ball was better than Stephen Curry, with ESPN being very invested in what the patriarch of the Ball family has to say.

After LaVar took his younger sons, LaMelo and LiAngelo, over to Lithuania play professionally, the Worldwide Leader in Sports sent seasoned writer Jeff Goodman over to report on their debut.

You probably remember that during one of Goodman’s interviews with LaVar, he claimed the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t have the back of head coach Luke Walton.

Goodman did his job and reported on LaVar’s comments, which were on the record, and that apparently caused LaVar’s associates to get into a heated argument with the reporter, which was seen on the latest episode of Facebook’s “Ball In The Family.”

The altercation starts at the 12:30 mark of the video, which you can watch here, when Alan Foster and Harrison Gaines tell Goodman that he isn’t allowed to interview LaMelo and LiAngelo. They claimed that he published LaVar’s comments on Walton after they asked him to withhold them following the interview. Goodman, of course, is under no obligation to withhold comments that were on the record.

The bottom line is Goodman did his job, and if LaVar Ball doesn’t understand what “on the record” means then that’s his problem. If he doesn’t want something to be published then he should refrain from sticking his foot in his mouth while talking to the press on the record for once.

The show, of course, is edited to make the Ball family look good, but the clip shows Goodman to be the credible reporter he is, while LaVar and his posse are shown to be the ridiculous clown car they’ve always been.
