Tim Tebow must climb two more rungs in order to reach the show.
The New York Mets right fielder will start the season with the team’s Double-A affiliate, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the New York Post’s Mike Puma and MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo reported Monday via Twitter.

Sandy Alderson vowed to be aggressive with Tim Tebow's development, and he's keeping to his word. The Mets plan to announce next week that Tebow will begin the minor league season at Double-A Binghamton, according to a source. Tebow ended last year at Class A St. Lucie.

Tebow, a former Heisman Trophy winner and ex-NFL quarterback, launched his professional baseball career in 2016 when he signed with Mets organization. He struggled at the plate, hitting just .226 with eight home runs and 56 RBIs in 430 at-bats across two Class A levels.
Nevertheless, the Mets invited him to spring training, where he had only one hit in 18 at-bats in seven games.
He’ll face stiffer competition than before in Double-A and likely will continue to flounder. But that probably won’t stop the Mets from progressing him through their ranks in an effort to capitalize on the presence of someone third baseman David Wright calls the “most famous” player in baseball.
