NFL Rumors: Vikings Have Contacted Free Agent Drew Brees’ Agent

An upgrade at quarterback could propel the Minnesota Vikings to the Super Bowl next season, and they appear to be examining all options.

The Vikings have reached out to the agent of free-agent quarterback Drew Brees, per NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero. Brees’ agent is Tom Condon.

Monday is when teams officially can tamper with free agents, and Wednesday is when players officially can sign contracts.

The Vikings’ top offseason priority is figuring out who will be under center Week 1.

Teddy Bridgewater is able to play after missing significant time because of injury, while veterans Sam Bradford and Case Keenum both are unrestricted free agents. Keenum started most of the 2017 season and played above expectations in leading the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game.

However, based on his body of work as a pro, it’s not likely Keenum will be as good next season as he was in 2017. So, it makes sense for the Vikings to look at an elite QB in Brees.

Brees, who turned 39 in January, threw for 4,328 yards with 28 touchdowns and eight interceptions last season. He’s missed only one game over the last eight years.
