The Boston Red Sox couldn’t have imagined a better start to the 2018 season.

After suffering a 6-4 Opening Day loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, the Red Sox have rattled off eight straight wins to begin the season 8-1, the best nine-game start in franchise history.

While the Red Sox have started the season off hot, they got some bad news Sunday when shortstop Xander Bogaerts left the game with a cracked bone in his ankle. Fortunately for the Sox, the star shortstop only is expected to miss between 10-14 days.

Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski discussed Boston’s 8-1 start, Bogaerts’ injury and the rivalry with the New York Yankees with NESN’s Tom Caron on Tuesday.
