Masters Leaderboard 2018: Jordan Spieth Leads After Wild First Round

A familiar face is atop the Masters leaderboard after Thursday’s first round at Augusta National Golf Club.

Jordan Spieth, a three-time major champion and green jacket winner in 2015, leads the star-studded field with a score of 6-under par. He’s two strokes ahead of Tony Finau and Matt Kuchar.

Finau led for a while before Spieth charged up the leaderboard. Finau, who’s making his tournament debut, dislocated his ankle celebrating a hole-in-one during Wednesday’s Par 3 Contest at Augusta. Clearly, he was able to shrug off the pain and play very well Thursday.

Tiger Woods made his first Masters appearance since 2015 and finished 1-over par. He was 1-under par through three holes, but he then bogeyed four of the next eight holes. Birdies on hole Nos. 14 and 16 saved his round.

Defending champion Sergio Garcia finished T-85th, or second-to-last place. He shot a 13 on the Par 5 15th hole, which was the result of finding the water on five consecutive shots.
