Months of NBA rumor mongering hasn’t diverted the Los Angeles Lakers’ focus.
The Lakers remain committed to pursuing LeBron James and Paul George this summer, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday, via ESPN Los Angeles.
“The Lakers plan hasn’t changed. They want to get both of them."

James and George are likely to opt out of their contracts with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder, respectively, and enter free agency this summer.
Wojnarowski reported in February the Lakers were considering ending their pursuits of James and George and “recalibrating” to focus on adding players in the 2019 free agent class rather than this summer, mostly due to their team’s improved play over the course of this season. However, the comments Wojnarowski made Thursday refute his previous assertion.
L.A. will have enough salary cap space to add both players on max contracts. Whether James and George want to join the young roster remains to be seen, but the Lakers are as keen in signing them as ever.
