NBA Rumors: Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard Unresponsive To Some Teammates From Afar

Kawhi Leonard’s distance from his team has extended into the digital realm.

The San Antonio Spurs forward has just sporadic communication via text messages with some of his teammates and is entirely uncommunicative with others, The Sacremento Bee’s Ailene Voisin reported Tuesday night, citing Spurs forward Pau Gasol.

Leonard is away from the team during its first-round playoff series against the Golden State Warriors as he continues rehabilitation work on a quad injury, which limited him to just nine games this season and reportedly will sideline him for the entire postseason. Physical distance at this pivotal moment in the season is one thing, but complete disengagement from colleagues is something else entirely.

The injury reportedly has put Leonard at odds with the Spurs, and the ever-brewing trade and free-agency rumors surrounding him probably destabilize the situation even further.

All of that drama leaves those Spurs players seeking clarity over Leonard’s situation, but apparently texting him is no way to figure out what he’s thinking … at least for some of his teammates.
