Happy (Chris) Sale day.
The Boston Red Sox left-hander will make his fourth start of the season Sunday when the red-hot Sox look to take their third straight game from the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park. Boston is off to the best 14-game start in franchise history (12-2), and a win Sunday will stretch its current winning streak to four games.
Sale has been lights out to begin the 2018 season. The ace southpaw has allowed only two runs over 17 innings while sitting down 23 hitters by way of the K.
The Red Sox will trot out a new-look lineup Sunday. Jackie Bradley Jr. will hit leadoff and play right field with Mookie Betts getting the day off after suffering a left-foot contusion in Saturday’s win over the O’s. Hanley Ramirez and J.D. Martinez will continue to occupy the middle of the Sox’s order after each blasted a home run in Boston’s offensive explosion Saturday.
Baltimore will counter with hard-throwing right-hander Dylan Bundy. The 25-year-old still is searching for his first win of the season despite allowing two runs or less in each of his first three starts.
