Gordon Hayward Injury: Star Hornets Forward Suffers Fractured Finger

No word yet on how much time Hayward could miss

We’d say “Gordon Hayward can’t catch a break,” but, at this point, that probably is the least accurate thing to say about the oft-injured forward.

The Hornets on Wednesday announced that Hayward suffered a fractured finger during Monday’s preseason game against the Toronto Raptors. The star forward, who left the Boston Celtics to sign with Charlotte during the offseason, will miss Thursday’s game against the Orlando Magic.

The Hornets described Hayward as “day-to-day” moving forward.

The injury is the latest for Hayward, whose Celtics career was marred by multiple ailments, some more significant than others. Among the injuries: dislocated ankle, fractured hand and sprained ankle.

The 30-year-old racked up 14 points, four rebounds and six assists in his Hornets preseason debut.
