As has become an annual tradition, the Dodgers were active ahead of the MLB trade deadline.

Los Angeles started making moves last week when it traded left-hander James Paxton to the Boston Red Sox. But the Dodgers reportedly made a far bigger splash Monday afternoon when they joined forces with the Cardinals and the White Sox for a three-team trade, per multiple reports.

The highlights of the reported deal were Tommy Edman landing in Chavez Ravine, while right-handed starter Erick Fedde was shipped to St. Louis. Fedde wasn’t the only big-league arm moved by Chicago, though, as the South Siders also sent Michael Kopech to the Dodgers, per MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand.

Red Sox fans will remember Kopech as a first-round pick by Boston in the 2014 MLB Draft. The 28-year-old never ended up donning a Red Sox uniform, as he was among the group of prospects traded to the White Sox in December 2016 when Boston swung a blockbuster trade for Chris Sale. Kopech went on to play in four-plus seasons in Chicago, where he accumulated a 4.38 ERA over 376 total innings.

Speaking of Red Sox first-round picks, Nick Yorke — the 17th overall selection in the 2020 MLB Draft — reportedly left the organization Monday when Craig Breslow and company traded the 22-year-old infielder to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for pitcher Quinn Priester.
