The Red Sox made a trade right before Tuesday's MLB trade deadline when they acquired Luis García from the Los Angeles Angels.

That was a so-so deal in terms of fanfare. But for a moment, Boston fans thought the club was on the verge of striking a legitimate blockbuster before the league's buzzer sounded.

MLB Network's Jon Morosi riled up Red Sox Nation exactly one hour before the deadline when he tweeted that Roman Anthony had been scratched from Double-A Portland's starting lineup. The report naturally led fans to believe Boston was about to trade Anthony, the franchise's No. 2 overall prospect.

As it turned out, Anthony was not scratched from Portland's lineup. The 20-year-old never was even in the Sea Dogs' starting nine for their game Tuesday evening. Several reporters and insiders were quick to correct Morosi's mistake, with the New York Post's Jon Heyman referring to Anthony as "basically untouchable" in terms of trade potential.

The 2022 draft pick soon could make a big move, though. The Triple-A Worcester Red Sox need to fill out their roster after losing a handful of players in trades, and Boston's "big three" prospects very well could be considered for promotions.
