New England Native Cooper Flagg Shines In Team USA Scrimmage

Flagg is still just 17 years old

Cooper Flagg’s brand spread across the nation during his tour with Montverde Academy. Now, the New England native just took his game to a grander audience.

Flagg might just be one of the top recruits in the 2025 NBA Draft class and already has his college plans lined up as a commit to Duke University in the fall.

With a summer to stay ready, Flagg recently accepted the chance to scrimmage Olympians and NBA All-Stars for Team USA. The group is currently training for the Paris Olympics at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Playing for Team USA Select, Flagg put on a show on Monday.

Flagg made just about every play in a series of videos shared from the scrimmage. He drained 3-pointers from the perimeter. He stretched the floor with his passing and finished a put-back opportunity around the rim.

His 6-foot-8 frame will allow him to compete at the next level and he certainly showed potential against elite players Monday, though obviously in a much simpler environment.

Flagg grew up in Maine and had Celtics influence in his early years of learning the sport. While he could be a future gold medalist himself, Flagg’s future shifts in a few months to a potential year-long takeover of college basketball.
