The sports world will turn its eyes to the City of Lights when the 2024 Summer Olympics open on Friday in Paris.

The opening ceremony for the Paris Games is set for Friday night (local time), and for the first time in the history of the summer event, the ceremony won’t take place in a stadium.

Instead, the celebration of sport will take place along one of Paris’ most famous landmarks, the Seine River.

A “parade” route of nearly four miles will begin at Austerlitz Bridge where it will wind through the city before coming to a close at the Eiffel Tower.
