The Patriots will open the gates to training camp Wednesday, not only welcoming current players, coaches, media and fans… but some familiar faces, as well.

New England has invited a few franchise legends to return to the backfields of Gillette Stadium this summer.

Rob Ninkovich, Ted Johnson, Sony Michel, Danny Amendola, Patrick Chung, Brian Hoyer, Rex Burkhead, Marcus Cannon, Dan Koppen, Brandon Mitchell, James White, Damien Harris, Deion Branch and Corey Dillon are all returning, according to the announcement put out Friday.

Amendola, Hoyer, Burkhead, Cannon and Harris are interesting choices, with all five having spent last season coaching or playing for another franchise. Dillon is another interesting participant, as he’ll be inducted into the Cincinnati Bengals’ Ring of Honor this upcoming season.

The Patriots often welcomed guests to training camp under Bill Belichick’s watch, but this is a different look as the alumni are expected to be available for autographs and pictures, with the appearances taking place in the fan activity area located behind the bleachers at training camp.
