FOXBORO, Mass. — It appeared as though the Patriots avoided any holdouts when they began training camp at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday.

New England might not be out of the woods just yet, though.

Davon Godchaux was not present during the second day of training camp, despite participating Wednesday. Godchaux has been open about his displeasure with his contract situation, and perhaps is allowing it to effect his on-field status. It could also be an injury, but the specifics of the situation are unclear as of Thursday morning.

The Patriots could have placed Godchaux on the reserve/did not report list if he wasn’t present on Day 1, but since he did show up the 29-year-old’s status is a bit murky.

Here’s the full absence list:
DT Davon Godchaux
LB Sione Takitaki (PUP)
OL Jake Andrews (PUP)
OL Cole Strange (PUP)
WR Kendrick Bourne (PUP)

Antonio Gibson and Terrell Jennings, the former of which was placed on the non-football injury list Tuesday, were limited.

The Patriots will begin practicing in pads Monday, but for the time being statuses aren’t expected to change.

UPDATE (11:57 a.m. ET): Godchaux was a late arrival to practice, showing up during individual drills without a helmet. He did not participate in team drills.
