FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots rookie wide receiver Javon Baker showed out the last two training camp practices.

Baker connected with Jacoby Brissett during a competitive 1-on-1 period at Gillette Stadium on Sunday. It was the first time in training camp the Patriots held the 1-on-1 portion, which proved to be a favorite for those in attendance.

Baker beat depth cornerback Mikey Victor off the line and showcased his speed on a fade route down the sideline. While Baker blew past Victor, it was no easy snag. Baker was forced to make a late adjustment with the ball in the air and ultimately had it fall into his hands for a reception reminiscent of Willie Mays.

While speaking to the media after practice, Baker credited Brissett for the throw.

Baker’s highlight Sunday came after he hauled in an impressive touchdown catch from Joe Milton III on Friday. The throw from Milton was rumored to travel 50-plus yards in the air before Baker elevated over rookie cornerback Marcellas Dial Jr.

Baker and the Patriots will be back on the practice fields Monday for their first practice in pads.
