Patriots Rookie Caedan Wallace Not Worried About Position In Training Camp

Patriots tackle Caedan Wallace has played both the left and right side during the first four days of training camp and he is growing more comfortable with the change.

“Every day, I get more and more comfortable,” Wallace told reporters after Day 4 of Patriots training camp, per team-provided video. “With every meeting, with every practice, I just gain more confidence in my skills.”

The third-round pick played right tackle in college at Penn State but said after minicamp that moving to the left wasn’t that big of a challenge.

“Wherever they need me. That’s what I’m going to do. I switch it up a lot, and I have fun with it,” Wallace said. “It’s great competition, and I have great guys to help me out with it. I’m just glad to be here.”

Wallace admitted that he switches his mind during meetings when he learns the Partiots are changing him from the right to the left tackle or vice versa.

“I’ve had more abrupt transitions in practice a couple of times,” Wallace explained. “When it happens, I do it in the moment. Kind of flip everything in my head.”

One area Wallace said he’s improved on since the spring and continues to work on during Patriots training camp is his hands.

“My hands have gotten a little bit better,” he said. “It’s something that I wanted to work on coming from college and then being with (offensive line) coach (Scott) Peters. He has a whole strike system that we’re learning, and that’s just really helped me out.

“I would also say my kick sets. I’ve gotten a lot better at not turning out as fast as I did previously and being able to translate that to my game has helped me out so much.”
