The Boston Red Sox began a three-game series with the Oakland Athletics with a 12-9 win Tuesday night at Fenway Park.

With the win, Boston improved to 50-40 while Oakland fell to 34-59.

That didn’t last long.

The Red Sox quickly answered with three runs against Oakland starter Joey Estes. Rafael Devers followed an RBI single from David Hamilton with a pair of RBIs of his own to deliver the lead to the home team.

From there, Boston exploded for eight runs in the second inning to completely take over the game. Wilyer Abreu launched his first home run since his return from the injured list with a three-run blast. Dominic Smith quickly followed that up with a solo shot of his own for back-to-back home runs for the Red Sox.

Every hitter in the Boston starting lineup recorded at least one hit and one run in a true domination of their opponents.

STARS OF THE GAME
— Devers stayed locked in with three RBIs on the night. He finished 2-for-4 at the plate.

— Abreu broke the game open with a three-run homer. That was his only hit of the game but finished with four RBIs.

— Bello recorded his first 10 outs on strikeouts and racked up 11 total on the night. The right-hander tossed 5 1/3 innings, allowing five runs on nine hits with two walks and the career-high number of strikeouts.
