Brady could add Emmy Award winner to his already impressive résumé
The full list of nominees for the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards was released Wednesday, and New England Patriots Hall of Famer Tom Brady was featured.
“Shōgun” led the way with 25 nominations followed by “The Bear” with 23, including one for Boston native Ayo Edebiri for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series.
“The Roast of Tom Brady” received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) under the series title “The Greatest Roast Of All Time: Tom Brady.” The retired NFL quarterback is listed as an executive producer for the Netflix special, so he is eligible to win an award.
Along with the Brady roast, the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show, the 66th Grammy Awards, The Oscars and the 76th Annual Tony Awards were nominated for the same category.
It would be interesting if Brady won an Emmy for his Netflix special given his regret for doing it. The 46-year-old admitted the jokes about his family might have gone too far compared to the riffs about his playing career.
The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held at Peacock Theater in September.
