Sunday was a great night for the Red Sox, and particularly for a trio of Boston's best.
Three of Alex Cora's players were selected to the American League All-Star team before the Red Sox shut out the rival New York Yankees to earn a series win in the Bronx. Rafael Devers earned his third career trip to the Midsummer Classic, while Jarren Duran and Tanner Houck will enjoy next week's festivities in Texas as first-timers.
Cora broke the news to his three All-Stars before first pitch at Yankee Stadium, and shortly thereafter, Duran called his father to share his big accomplishment. As one could imagine, it was an emotional exchange between dad and son.
"It's pretty special, honestly," Duran told ESPN's "Sunday Night Baseball" broadcast crew. "I called my dad -- we both broke down crying. It's hard to focus on that when you have to play the Yankees at night. It's one of those quick little love things, but then you have to focus back up."

As Duran's remarks to ESPN evidenced, the talented outfielder won't lose focus before he heads off to the star-studded affair at Globe Life Field. Boston has work to do ahead of the break, as the Oakland Athletics and the Kansas City Royals each will be in town for a three-game series this week.
NESN's full coverage of Tuesday's series opener against the A's begins at 6 p.m. ET.
