Red Sox manager Alex Cora was feeling nostalgic after reaching his latest career milestone.
Monday's win in Kansas City was very important for Boston, as it significantly helped the club in its pursuit of an American League playoff spot. But it also was personally meaningful for Cora, who became only the fourth manager in Red Sox history to win 500 games with the storied franchise.
There were countless memorable Boston victories on the road to 500, but Cora's favorite remains his first with the club back in 2018. As such, the Red Sox skipper texted the winning pitcher in that game, David Price, on Monday night after the former joined exclusive company.
From there, Cora returned his focus to the task at hand. The Red Sox picked up another win over the Royals on Tuesday, and Boston now can overtake Kansas City in the AL wild-card standings with another triumph Wednesday evening.
