Could Patriots Make Run At Disgruntled CeeDee Lamb Amid Cowboys Drama?

The New England Patriots might have struck out on a trade for San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk, but it didn't take long for another disgruntled wideout to come to the forefront.

Dallas Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb clearly is unhappy with his own contract situation, and owner Jerry Jones dragging his feet has not helped the team's situation.

Lamb, a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, is set to play on his fifth-year option. He does not have any long-term security beyond the 2024 campaign and thus is currently holding out from training camp.

Could Lamb be nearing a trade request? And if so, could the Patriots try to make a blockbuster move for the First-Team All-Pro?

New England just tried to add a star receiver for Drake Maye, after all. And Eliot Wolf and company reportedly were willing to give Aiyuk a contract that would have paid him like a top-five wideout. Chances are Lamb will be looking for the same thing.

On the latest episode of NESN's "Foxboro Rush" podcast, co-hosts Travis Thomas and George Balekji weighed in on the speculation. However, both agree there is a difference that makes Lamb a bit more far-fetched for the Patriots.

If the Cowboys did want to trade Lamb, which probably is unlikely, they would want the bag, as Thomas pointed out. The 25-year-old Lamb is coming off a 2023 campaign in which he caught 135 balls for 1,749 yards, both of which were career-highs.
