The New England Patriots kicked the tires on Calvin Ridley in free agency and constructed a trade offer for 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
It appears they have done their due diligence on Dallas Cowboys star wideout CeeDee Lamb, too.
While appearing on WEEI's "The Greg Hill Show" on Monday morning, Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo offered a small nugget on Lamb, who is holding out of training camp due to frustration about his contract.
"You can't talk about players on other teams, but you can put a call in," Mayo said.

Mayo's sentiments surfaced about 24 hours after Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf kept the door open on the receiver market.
"We make calls on all positions and on all players that we think might be able to help us," Wolf responded when asked about the receiver market, per a team-provided transcript. "Sometimes, it's just to try to gather information from other clubs and kind of see what they're thinking about their own roster."
Will the third time be the charm for the Patriots? It feels like that is unlikely.
The Cowboys have extended an offer to Lamb that would pay him $33 million in average annual value, per NFL Media. Lamb reportedly has pushed back and would like Dallas to increase its offer in both AAV and guarantees.
