Judd Sirott Is ‘Wired’ To Bring Bruins Games Bigger Than What Fans See

Judd Sirott isn't exactly the new voice of the Boston Bruins, but he is taking over in the NESN broadcast booth after providing play-by-play across New England for the past seven years with 98.5 The Sports Hub.

"To work with (Andy) Brick(ley), I can't wait it's going to be awesome," Sirott said while visiting the NESN booth at TD Garden. "So fortunate. So fortunate to be here."

Brickley joked with his new broadcast partner before welcoming him to the NESN team and asked howSirott generated energy in his audition.

"Energy is never a problem with me," Sirott explained. "... Ever since I was 13 or 14 and fell in love with the game of hockey and fell in love with the characters who played the game I always felt that energy and maybe it's also the way I'm wired to be able to bring the way the game is and there's nothing like it. ... It's incomparable across any sport to be able to translate that from the ice to our microphones and onto a screen."

For the audition, Sirott was invited into the NESN studio in Watertown, Mass., to call a replay of a Bruins game with Brickley in the green room off a screen.

"I was honored to get the call from (chief operating officer) Matt Volk and NESN to come in and have a chance to do a game with you," Sirott told Brickley. "(The game) was Jan.6. It was the Bruins against the Tampa Bay Lightning. One of the things I wanted to bring to that audition... I knew the team, my family lives here in the community, we knew the town and I've known you for a long time, and I wanted to make sure that that came through during the audition, and hopefully it did."

Even though he is an experienced play-by-play hockey broadcaster, Sirott will have new challenges as he leaves The Sports Hub to join NESN.

"In radio, we have to paint the picture," Sirott explained. "But here, on television, the picture is already there. So, how do we augment the pictures and make it even bigger than what you're seeing on your screen?"

Sirott expressed his excitement about not only working with the NESN production crew, which includes Brian Zechello, Rose Mirakian and Pat White, but simply the upcoming Bruins season.

"This job is simply unrivaled around the National Hockey League," Sirott said. "Not only an Original Six team but the oldest American franchise around the National Hockey League. It's a franchise that is woven into the fabric of Boston and the community of New England.

"I'm a big believer in people and that's what makes things so special. Whether you are here at the Garden or whether you're on the road ... you can see it. You can hear it and you can feel it. That's why this is the best job in the National Hockey League."
