Matthew Judon and the Patriots had a line of communication before they went their separate ways, but those conversations apparently weren't staged very efficiently.

Judon, who was traded to the Atlanta Falcons last week, opened up about his New England exit in a recent interview with NBC Sports Boston's Kayla Burton. The star pass-rusher shined a line on what he felt was the strongest force that drove him out of Foxboro, Mass.

"I just feel like we never sat down and really came to the table as men," Judon told Burton. "I think that's the biggest point. They kind of didn't know where I was at. We kind of didn't know where they were at. It was just always through text messages and phone calls. We just never sat down. I think that was the biggest, kind of, disconnect."

Judon and the Patriots reportedly did end up working together one last time before they cut ties. According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, New England allowed the four-time Pro Bowl selection to pick his landing spot once it finalized trade offers.

So, while Judon would have preferred to keep playing with the Patriots, it doesn't seem like there's any bad blood between the 32-year-old and his now-former team. Judon still is awaiting his next payday, but now he's at least with a team that should compete for a Super Bowl appearance this season.
