Mac Jones looks revitalized based on his Jaguars preseason performance, but Patriots fans still can't seem to agree to a consensus opinion on the 25-year-old.

Jones dazzled in Jackonville's shutout win over the Atlanta Falcons in its preseason finale. The fourth-year quarterback was second in the league in preseason passing yards and passer rating after Friday's outing, and he was tied for first in passing touchdowns.

The standout preseason caused Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson to poke fun at the Patriots, and as one can imagine, NESN.com readers weren't entirely pleased.

What exactly is the Jacksonville way? Oh yea, zero Superbowls. -- NotJackFan

If he's so wonderful, get rid of (Trevor) Lawrence -- bsahagia

Then start him, Doug. Give me a break. He’s a backup. The next (Jacoby Brissett) if he plays his cards right. -- Butch Reed

On the other hand, there were multiple fans happy to see Jones thrive in a new environment since they believed he wasn't given a fair deal in his Patriots career. However, Jones still has plenty of his detractors.

The Mac Jones nut huggers club just can’t let go of him. He is playing against guys that will be lucky if they make the practice squad. Give me a break. -- X

Scrub playing against scrubs ... -- Mpas

Patriots set him up to fail. No line no receivers -- C

Good thing he is playing against the starters of those teams in the preseason. Wait…what?!? -- Pagray

Jones needed to get away from the Patriots and the many fans that hate him. BB (Bill Belichick) ruined this kid after his first year. Matt Patricia being the Offensive (coordinator), what a joke. Than there is the OL, no receivers, no TE and just bad coaching. I am glad he is doing well. I hope (Eliot) Wolf and company won't do the same to (Drake) Maye. Get him a real OL so he is protected. We'll see about the receivers -- seem to be better than what Jones got. The TE group is still marginal at best. -- Bill

He’s doing great against 3rd stringers the last 2 games wow so proud of Mac lol. Get a grip people. -- Trade em

Jacksonville is on track to retain Jones as the backup behind Lawrence, but with QB-needy teams like the Minnesota Vikings, Jones built a strong case to potentially be a starter again. No matter where he goes, it appears he'll still remain a controversial figure in New England.
