The Patriots reportedly cut ties with another member of the 2023 NFL Draft class.
New England on Tuesday waived offensive lineman Atonio Mafi, according to the Boston Herald's Doug Kyed and Andrew Callahan.
Mafi struggled to earn reps during training camp, with Layden Robinson, Nick Leverett and Michael Jordan gaining more favor throughout the summer. The coaching staff experimented with the 23-year-old at center, but that did not pan out well.
The roster move came after kicker Chad Ryland reportedly was waived. Both were selected in the 2023 NFL Draft. Fellow member Jake Andrews will start the season on injured reserve with third-round pick Marte Mapu likely to join him. Sixth-round pick Ameer Speed is no longer on the team, and Kayshon Boutte and Isaiah Bolden entered Tuesday as roster bubble candidates.

Mafi struggled last season, but since he was waived, he has an opportunity to be signed to New England's practice squad if he clears waivers. Stay tuned with NESN.com for all updates on the Patriots' 53-man roster.
