Brandon Aiyuk is still away from the practice field as the San Francisco 49ers prepare to defend their NFC Championship entering the 2024 season.
The standout wide receiver remains in search of a new contract and swirled around in trade rumors throughout the offseason.
Conflicting reports continue to sway back and forth as to whether Aiyuk will reach an agreement with the 49ers or if he will indeed be dealt prior to the start of the season.
NFL Media's Mike Garafolo provided the latest update alluding to a new chapter for Aiyuk.

"What seems to be clear is that if and when he is traded, I would say we are closer to a trade than to him staying in San Francisco at this point, he is going to make more than the 49ers offered him," Garafolo shared on "The Insiders" on Monday.
Garafolo echoed that the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns remain teams that would likely be involved if a deal for Aiyuk ever goes through.
49ers reporter Matt Maiocco also mentioned the Patriots and Browns in the mix during an appearance on NBC Sports Boston on Monday evening. He later reported that both of those teams "have the framework" of a trade for Aiyuk done with a decision to be made by the receiver.
New England already made one offer to San Francisco for Aiyuk during the NFL draft. Now, the Patriots may have another chance to strike a deal for a true impact wideout.

If indeed Aiyuk is moved, one team is set to make an impact addition to the offense just before the start of the NFL season.
