Patriots Rumors: Lineman Dealing With Injury Ahead Of Preseason Finale

The New England Patriots offensive line received troubling news Thursday.

According to Mark Daniels of Mass Live, Vederian Lowe dealt with a "minor oblique injury" at practice this week. Christopher Price of The Boston Globe added the ailment is not expected to affect the 25-year-old long term.

The report of Lowe's injury came after the second-year offensive lineman left practice early Wednesday and was not present at Thursday's practice. Offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt chose not to comment on Lowe's status when asked about it.

New England's offensive line already was shaky with Lowe at left tackle, and his replacement did not show better skills throughout training camp. Head coach Jerod Mayo and executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf expressed confidence in the offensive line despite the unit's struggles in the preseason. Wolf hoped Lowe could ascend in practice and be a reliable left tackle for either Jacoby Brissett or Drake Maye.

The Patriots reportedly are interested in Dennis Daley, who the Arizona Cardinals released Monday. Rookie Caedan Wallace or veteran Chukwuma Okorafor could see more reps at left tackle. But depending on the severity of Lowe's injury, the Patriots could make a move or two to improve the offensive line.
