Marcelo Mayer earned the call to Triple-A last week with fellow Red Sox prospects Roman Anthony and Kyle Teel.
For now, he'll still have to wait to make his debut with Worcester.
Mayer dealt with hip and lower back issues when he earned the call-up with Double-A Portland. Now, the Red Sox infield prospect heads to the seven-day injured list, as originally reported by The Boston Globe's Alex Speier and The Athletic's Jen McCaffrey.
The move was confirmed on Worcester's transaction log on Tuesday.

Mayer bounced back so far this season in a major ways after injuries dismantled his 2023 campaign. The 2021 first-rounder slashed .307/.370/.480 with 28 doubles, eight home runs and a .850 OPS in 77 games with Portland this season.
The Red Sox have the "Big Three" group of prospects one step away from the majors. For now, Mayer has a bit longer to wait to begin his final polishing process before eventually heading to Boston.
