The Boston Red Sox were dealt a tough-to-swallow sweep after the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks earned a 7-5 victory at Fenway Park on Sunday afternoon.
Boston fell to 67-62 on the season while Arizona improved to 75-56.

ONE BIG TAKEAWAY
The Red Sox looked to be in a good spot after four frames. Boston held a 4-0 lead after a three-run home run from Rafael Devers and the offense seemed to be getting to right-hander Merrill Kelly. Boston had seven hits through four innings including the Devers home run, a Connor Wong wall-ball double and an extra-base hit for Masataka Yoshida. Unfortunately, Yoshida was thrown out in the fourth as he tried to stretch a double into a triple. Wong sounded the double off the wall the very next batter with nobody on base.

It was not enough, though. The Diamondbacks scored three runs on two hits in each of the fifth and sixth innings. Right-hander Tanner Houck was tagged for a game-changing three-run home run off the bat of Eugenio Suarez. Arizona added a solo home run in the top of the ninth to give itself a 7-4 lead.
The D-Backs scored seven runs on 10 hits while the Red Sox finished with five runs on nine hits.
STARS OF THE GAME
-- Suarez (4-for-4, three RBIs, two runs) crushed Boston in the series. The Arizona third baseman provided the visitors with their first lead of the game on his three-run home run in the sixth inning. Suarez also hit a single during Arizona's three-run fifth inning, and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by leadoff man Corbin Carroll. Suarez finished the series 9-for-13 with 10 RBIs.
-- Triston Casas (2-for-4, RBI, run) was the only Boston batter to record multiple hits. The Red Sox first baseman got Boston on the board with a 420-foot solo home run in the first inning and added a single in the fourth inning.

-- Geraldo Perdomo (1-for-4, two RBIs, run) provided the Diamondbacks with some insurance on his ninth-inning home run which snuck inside the Pesky Pole.

The Red Sox host the Blue Jays for a double-header at Fenway Park on Monday. Boston and Toronto will conclude their previous weather-impacted contest at 2 p.m. ET before the nightcap at 7 p.m.
