Yordan Álvarez continues to be a thorn in the Red Sox's side.

After going 2-for-4 with an RBI double in Houston's win in Boston on Friday, Álvarez clobbered a pair of home runs in the Astros' 5-4 triumph over the Red Sox on Saturday afternoon. The stellar performance boosted the veteran slugger's career batting average (including playoffs) to .463 at Fenway Park, where he's launched eight home runs since breaking into the big leagues in 2019.

Rafael Devers raved about Álvarez after the middle game between the pair of American League hopefuls. An interpreter relayed Devers' praise of Álvarez, but after the former initially described the Houston star as one of the best hitters in baseball, Boston's third baseman interrupted to make a correction.

"No. The best," Devers told reporters through his interpreter, per The Boston Globe.

Devers wasn't the only person in the Red Sox clubhouse to put Álvarez rarefied air. Boston manager Alex Cora believes the three-time All-Star is "the closest thing" to franchise legend David Ortiz in today's game.

The Red Sox will try to subdue Álvarez on Sunday when they hope to avoid a sweep at the hand of the Astros. NESN's complete coverage of the finale begins at 12:30 p.m. ET.
