BOSTON -- Bruins fans will hear a new voice in the NESN broadcast booth this season, but the former 98.5 The Sports Hub announcer hopes to bring the same energy Boston is accustomed to.
Judd Sirott on Thursday was announced as the new NESN Bruins play-by-play broadcaster. Sirott was grateful for the nearly two decades Jack Edwards brought to the broadcast. It will be a different experience for Bruins fans, but he hopes fans expect similar energy.
"I think the passion and energy that they we're accustomed to that will be a constant in the broadcast," Sirott told NESN.com. "I think what I love about the game and what drew me to the game were the characters that played in the game and the stories that were in the game. My job is to bring those to light, and that's what I try to do for every broadcaster. For me, I want to create something with Brick (Brian Zechello, Rose Mirikian-Wheeler) and everybody on the production team that you want to go hang out and listen. You want to spend some time. Whether it's I want to sit down and relax. Maybe you want to escape. 'I don't feel like doing the dishes, I got to fold the laundry, or I got some painting to do. You know what, I want to hang out with these guys and watch the Bruins.' That's what I want."
Sirott thanked NESN and Bruins leadership for the opportunity and was excited to get started in the next step of his broadcasting career.
