The Red Sox and Yankees quickly quieted down any controversy from last weekend, but Aaron Boone made sure to get the last word.
Saturday's Boston-New York matchup got testy when Gerrit Cole hit multiple Red Sox batters. The reigning Cy Young winner also hit Rafael Devers, and there seemed to be an attempt at retaliation when Brayan Bello threw behind Aaron Judge.
Alex Cora and Boone got heated after the game, including about Cole intentionally walking Devers with one out and no runners on base. Cora's comments about allegedly targeting Judge didn't elicit discipline from MLB, but Boone made sure to get a public jab in at the Red Sox skipper after the ruling.
"I feel like we're past this weekend," Boone told reporters Tuesday, per MLB.com's Bryan Hoch. "Chances are, we're not going to play them anymore this year. We've got too much important things going on in front of us to really get caught up in that."

It sounds like Cora isn't the only one watching the standings.
The Red Sox went down five games behind for the final American League wild-card spot after Tuesday's loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. Meanwhile, the Yankees went up four games atop the AL East. Boston will need a longshot if it hopes to get revenge on New York again this season.
