Adrian Wojnarowski shockingly announced his retirement from ESPN and NBA media.
The former insider on Wednesday released a statement that began with his roots as a son of a factory worker and his dream of being a sports writer. Wojnarowski highlighted his time at the Hartford Courant, which he credited with giving him his first byline, before announcing his internet-breaking announcement.
"This craft transformed my life, but I've decided to retire from ESPN and the news industry," Wojnarowski wrote. "I understand the commitment required in my role and it's an investment that I'm no longer driven to make. Time isn't in endless supply and I want to spend mine in ways that are more personally meaningful."
Woj concluded his statement by thanking his colleagues and former ESPN leaders Jimmy Pitaro and Cristina Daglas.

ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jeff Passan later reported that Wojnarowski agreed to become the general manager of the St. Bonaventure men's basketball program. The role includes Name Image and Likeness allocation, recruiting and supporting head coach Mark Schmidt. The Bonnies made the move official soon after the reports.
Wojnarowski was one of the top insiders in the NBA world with his breaking news tweets affectionately referred to as "Woj Bombs." He dropped one final one Wednesday as he moved on to a new career.
