Demario Douglas in undoubtedly the most explosive receiver on the roster for the New England Patriots.

His role in the offense hasn't met that pedigree to start the season for the Patriots.

Douglas had just two catches for 12 yards in the season opener and did not receive a target in the Patriots' Week 2 loss to the Seattle Seahawks at Gillette Stadium. Jerod Mayo acknowledged that Douglas needs to have a greater priority moving forward before the wideout gave his own thoughts on his lack of touches.

"Yeah very, very challenging," Douglas told reporters Monday, per NBC Sports Boston. "But you know, we are on to the next game."

Douglas knows he's getting open and putting himself in a position to create explosive plays for the Patriots. Despite the frustration, the second-year receiver remains ready to make an impact when the ball comes his way.

"You pull up the film," Douglas said. "You can tell. Things happen for a reason. Whenever my time's ready, I'm going to show them."

The Patriots get a quick turnaround to better feature Douglas when New England visits the New York Jets for a primetime AFC East battle on Thursday night at 8:15 p.m. ET.
