Tyreek Hill could not have expected the day he had when he woke up Sunday morning before the season opener for the Miami Dolphins.

Before catching seven passes for 130 yards and a touchdown in Miami's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the star wideout got detained near the stadium by police for a traffic violation before being handcuffed.

So, how did Hill feel about a rather adventurous start to his 2024 season?

"When I left home, I told my wife, 'Babe, I'm (gonna) go to work, and I'm (gonna) get prepared for my day,'" Hill told CBS Sports' Melanie Collins. "Little did I know, that was quite a surprise on the way, man. At the end of the day, I got a job to do. My job is to come inside of this stadium and be great."

Hill praised his teammates who quickly came to his support, particularly veterans Calais Campbell and Jonnu Smith.

"I love that. I was (expletive) fired up," Hill added. "To see Jonnu, to see Calais right there in the heat of the battle with me, that goes to show that. It's more than about football. The brotherhood that we got outside of just football is amazing. Those dudes were really risking their lives for me. You feel me? Shoutout to Jonnu, shoutout Calais, shoutout (security director) Drew Brooks, shoutout to everybody, man. Shoutout to my mom, too."

Hill did not specifically comment on the specifics of the incident Sunday morning. He now has a short week to move on as the Dolphins prepare for an AFC East battle with the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night.
