Jarring New Video Footage Of Tyreek Hill’s Detainment Released

The Dolphins kicked off their 2024 season with a win, but Sunday was far from a total joy for Tyreek Hill.

Hill was pulled over for speeding on his way to Hard Rock Stadium and eventually was detained by police, who cited the wide receiver for reckless driving. Hill was not formally arrested and still was able to play in Miami's Week 1 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bodycam footage of the incident was leaked to the internet Monday, and it showed law enforcement forcibly removing Hill from his vehicle after he was hesitant to roll down his window. Barely over a minute after the 30-year-old was first pulled over, one officer had his knee on Hill's back while he put the eight-time Pro Bowl selection in handcuffs.

"When we tell you to do something, you do it," an officer told Hill. "You understand? Not what you want, but what we tell you. You're a little (expletive) confused."

From there, Hill told an officer to "do what you gotta do" before he was stood up and roughly forced back down after he didn't sit down on the curb as quickly as the officer liked, citing an offseason knee surgery. Jonnu Smith eventually pulled over in an attempt to help Hill, who pleaded for the veteran tight end to "call Drew (Brooks)," the Dolphins' head of security. Smith faced similar difficulties with the officers but was not detained.

Miami eventually put out a statement Monday night, lamenting "the overly aggressive and violent conduct" aimed at Hill, Smith and Calais Campbell by law enforcement.
