New England fans received another reminder last week that these aren't Bill Belichick's Patriots.
The Foxboro Faithful probably couldn't have even fathomed the idea of Belichick laughing and joking around with colleagues before a game. But that's precisely what Jerod Mayo was doing before his first contest as New England's head coach at Gillette Stadium.
The NFL's official X account on Wednesday shared a clip of Mayo pranking Patriots staffers and players before New England's Week 2 showdown with the Seattle Seahawks. The 38-year-old pretended footballs were traveling in his peers' direction, and he got a ton of satisfaction out of getting them to flinch.
Of course, the good vibes for Mayo and company didn't last terribly long last Sunday. The Patriots squandered a golden opportunity to improve to 2-0 and ultimately fell to the Seahawks in overtime.

New England will have an opportunity to turn things in around in short order, though, as it will kick off the NFL's Week 3 slate Thursday night when it visits the New York Jets.
